Privacy policy
The Blue Economy takes the protection of personal data very seriously. This policy covers the whole product: the map of actors, accounts, community spaces, events and notifications. It will be completed with the final legal notices.
Data controller
The controller for your data is Blue Education. For any question or request, write to contact@blue-education.org.
Location of actors
When listing an actor, each person chooses how precise their location should be. By default, only the city is displayed: the exact address is never published, in order to protect people's privacy and safety.
Contact details
Email addresses, phone numbers and other contact details are made public only if the person has explicitly allowed it.
Entries added by the team
Some organisation entries are added by the Blue Education team from public sources: Gunter Pauli's books, the press and the official websites of the organisations concerned. They contain no private contact details. Any organisation may request the correction or the removal of its entry by writing to contact@blue-education.org; the request is handled within 30 days.
Accounts and profiles
Creating an account stores your email address and a password, hashed by our authentication provider, Supabase. You can complete a public profile: display name, avatar, headline and bio. This profile only appears in the members directory if you explicitly turn it on in your settings: no one is listed without asking to be. The directory stays reserved for signed-in members, it is never public and never indexed by search engines. Creating an account also creates an entry in our internal CRM, used to keep track of the community; we never send you marketing outreach without a separate, explicit consent.
Community content
The posts, comments and reactions you share in community spaces are visible to other members. Posts and comments are both moderated before they appear publicly. The text of your posts and comments is sent to a third-party language-model provider, solely to offer automatic translation into French, English and Spanish.
Events
When you RSVP to an event, we keep your participation to manage capacity and the waiting list. The list of participants is only made public if the organiser chooses to display it; by default, it stays private.
Notifications and emails
You receive in-app notifications (new reaction, comment, invitation to co-host an event…) and transactional emails (registration confirmation, moderation notice) sent through our provider, Resend.
Subprocessors
We rely on the following providers to run the product:
- Supabase — database hosting and account authentication.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Resend — sending of transactional emails.
- A language-model provider — automatic translation of community content (the specific provider has not been chosen yet).
Map tiles
Displaying the map loads geographic tiles from third-party servers, which receive your IP address when the tiles load: CARTO (light, dark and terrain backgrounds) and, as a fallback, OpenStreetMap. Elevation data for the terrain background comes from Amazon Web Services (AWS Open Data).
Retention period
We keep your data for as long as needed to run the product and to meet our legal obligations. You can request the deletion of your account at any time; your account and profile data are then deleted, except for what the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have a right of access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection over your data. You can exercise these rights, or request the deletion of your account, at any time by writing to contact@blue-education.org.
