Qingdao group founded in 1968, specialising in alginate extraction from brown seaweed, with reported output of 16,000 tonnes a year, around 30% of world production. Its range has broadened to fucoidan, mannitol and food, pharmaceutical and textile applications. The company runs a research centre at its Qingdao site.
